Marmalade Sky is an abstract painting and part of my Sun & Moon series.  I was inspired to paint this when Saharan desert sand had unusually been blown to the UK.  The sand turned the sun light and sky into a deep orange similar to Marmalade.  I looked in wonder - I must paint this experience! 

My new painting evolved by the wonder of how the sun can take your breath away transporting you from a personal scale to the much larger scale of the solar system.  I attempt to capture those inspirational moments by interacting with the viewer with paint, colour and geometry.  I hope the painting will communicate a sense of wonder and peace.

The geometry has a calming energy and was found in a tile design in Seville.  The geometry of the picture forces my painting technique to be concentrated in a trance like state.  Inspection reveals subtle changes in colour allowing the viewer to hold their attention on the picture. 

I love sitting down and allowing the eye to flow over the painting. It has given me many hours of viewing pleasure.
